I will post news and notes from Sun Belt Media Day in this thread, then I will have a few content items up on the front page a bit later.
Sun Belt Media Day will continue to be held in New Orleans for the next two years. Media Day's next year will be held on July 23-24.
Commissioner Keith Gill said that the Sun Belt is built around regional rivalries and those rivalries are "the foundation" of the conference.
The Sun Belt sent a record 7 teams to bowl games last year. The conference is actively seeking new bowl partners and want to add 2-3 primary bowl sponsors over the next few years.
Gill said that "Congressional Solutions" are needed to the NIL. He believes a federal law that prevents states from outdoing other states is very important.
Gill said he believes the Sun Belt Conference is stronger than ever.
Gill said CFP expansion is a good thing and gives SBC teams a chance to get in.
Gill was asked about conference expansion. He said that he doesn't anticipate any changes in the near future, but college athletics moves fast and anything can happen.
Gill said the league is working to strengthen baseball and softball across the conference.
Gill say's the SBC West is going to be a "knock down drag out" division this year.
Gill was asked if he sees divisions going away and he said he doesn't see that happening.
