I've been thinking about where everything is up to this point with the 2023 football season, and this team has come a long way this year.
I can remember sitting back and watching the Oklahoma game and being so frustrated that I had to talk myself off of a ledge. In fact, I had a phone conversation with @indian744 where he told me I needed to chill out and come to my sense, because I was pretty upset. Then there was the Memphis game. Despite the OU debacle I thought this was a winnable game for the Red Wolves. I was disappointed with how the team performed there as well.
Then, we saw Stony Brook. I've got to be honest, thing's weren't going to great there until we saw the QB change in the second half. When Raynor came in there was a whole new energy that presented itself and I could tell there was something there. I remember thinking that had he played against Memphis you very well may have seen a win there.
The one game I wish this team could get back is the Coastal Carolina game. That is a game this team should have won. This team should be bowl eligible right now. There were some mistakes made that hurt the team. When you add that to the incompetent officiating we all saw, well, you have a loss you shouldn't have had.
These past two weeks have been fun, as well. ESPECIALLY watching this team run the ball right down the throats of Louisiana. Even as a guy in the media I just like seeing the Red Wolves beat that team.
There are three left. South Alabama this week on the road, Texas State at home next week, and Marshall on the road to close out the regular season. You have to find a win at one of these spots in order to get bowl eligibility. All three are going to be tough opponents, but this team is capable of doing it.
Speaking of bowl eligibility, lets be honest, how many thought we would even be discussing such a thing after the first two weeks?
