Transfer portal is all just a part of the game now

I know that a lot of people get upset when players hit the portal, but that is unfortunately just part of things now. Memphis head basketball coach Penny Hardaway recently said that players are no longer playing for the love of the game and for the love of team, they're just playing for money.

I'm seeing players openly admit to having agents shop them around while they are still actively playing for their current team. This is against NCAA rules, but the NCAA isn't doing anything about it, so it's only going to get worse.

Every team in the country is dealing with this, not just Arkansas State. Players doing this is not indicative anything any coach is doing right or wrong either way, it's just what kids are doing now.

I'm even seeing it in high school now. Kids are bouncing around schools like crazy.

Arkansas State signed another top recruiting class, but Red Wolf fans on social media have made it clear they are looking for more than just that.

A-State Football Film Study: A look at Tulsa

The Red Wolves are coming off of a week one victory over UCA and now move forward to Tulsa. I found some film on their game against Northwestern State and will share some of my thoughts on what I see in the film.

First, you can run against this team. Northwestern State had success and explosive plays in the running game against Tulsa. Arkansas State is going to have a better offensive line and better running attack, so this could prove beneficial to the Red Wolves.

Northwestern State was also able to have success in the passing game. With the receivers the Red Wolves have this could be a good sign for them offensively this week.

Tulsa likes to throw the deep ball. They have some long, athletic receivers that can go up and get it, and they will utilize them. The Arkansas State secondary is going to be tested this weekend against Tulsa.

They also like to go to the air in the red zone. The got good protection against Northwestern State which gave their QB the time to find open guys in the end zone. They went to their tight end, Connor Vaughan, multiple times in the red zone.

Special teams breakdowns. Northwestern State blocked a field goal then scooped and scored with it. This could prove beneficial to the Red Wolves. Takeaway's and scores on both defense and special teams are something this Arkansas State team needs to make happen.

Tulsa did return a punt and a kickoff for a touchdown. They have some speed in the return game, and Arkansas State is going to have to be ready.

I'm not real sure why they would show this against an FCS level team, but they showed some trick plays to include a reverse from the RB to a WR for a touchdown. Arkansas State will have to be prepared for plays like that.

Their QB will pull the ball and keep it. He had a nice touchdown run around the right side.

Arkansas State is currently a 7.5 point favorite on BetSaracen. If they can have success in the running game and passing game like Northwestern State did I can certainly see a win for the Red Wolves.
