A-State held their first scrimmage of the year this morning inside of Centennial Bank Stadium. The scrimmage lasted a little over two hours. Below you will find new and notes.

Cody Brown was held out today after bruising his knee in practice yesterday. He should be good to go soon.

Dijon Paschal was also held out, but I did not catch the reason.

Blaise Taylor looked good on his opportunities at kick and punt return, as did Cameron Echols-Luper. Luper is freaky fast.

Chad Voytik looked really good running the ball, made good decisions and threw the ball away when he needed to, and made some nice passes at times. He moved the ball well with the ones.

Justice Hansen also looked good and made some smart plays. He also moved the ball with the ones, and showed that he is capable of leading the team.

Blake Anderson said after the scrimmage that neither of the QB's have separated themselves, and they he and Buster Faulkner have discussed using a two QB system. They have both done it before, and they may be in a situation this year where they will do it again.

In regards to running backs, Warren Wand, Johnston White, and Armond Weh Weh all looked solid. Weh Weh is a massive dude who will run people over this year.

There were several wide receivers who made some nice plays. Cameron Echols-Luper and Kendall Sanders are going to do big things for this team this year. Omar Bayless made some nice plays out there as well.

On the defensive line Waylon Roberson is all man. Jake Swalley made some nice plays, Griffin Riggs was impressive today as was the usual suspect in Javon Rolland-Jones. Riggs has really stepped up. Javier Carbonell made some nice plays and found his way into the backfield several times.

Several linebackers looked good today. Quanterio Heath was consistent and Kyle Wilson has really brought a lot to that group. He is someone who has stood out to Joe Cauthen. Tajhea Chambers has stood out to Cauthen as well.

Money Hunter looked solid in the defensive backfield and will continue to be a playmaker. Blaise Taylor made some nice plays as well.

I will have some video and interviews up shortly.
