I was ready to throw in the damned towel

I was ready. I'm a fan and supporter of this program but three weeks ago I was wondering if this staff could get it done. Now we make some changed and we go with a QB that can move the ball and we look like an entirely different team. This looks like a team that can compete in every game left on the schedule and I think we could steal a win or two. @Luke Matheson what are you thinking? Bowl eligibility this year?

A-State Basketball Hodgson and Quarels out recruiting today

Arkansas State men's basketball head coach Bryan Hodgson and assistant Jamie Quarels have been out on the recruiting trail today.

Rivals.com basketball analyst Russ Woods informed me that Hodgson and Quarels were both at Winter Haven (FL) High School today to visit 3 Star SG Isaac Celiscar today.

Celiscar is a highly sought after recruiting, holding offers from Arkansas State, Chattanooga, Florida Atlantic, High Point, Indiana, Jacksonville State, New Mexico State, Presbyterian, Siena, South Florida, Stony Brook, and UIC.

UCF, and Yale are showing serious interest.

ON HIS GAME:

“I think I can do, like, everything really. I’m one of those hustle players, I rebound, I score, I can shoot it. I try to be active and do everything. I guess I’m an all-around player.”

ON WHAT HE IS WORKING TO IMPROVE:

“My outside shot. I think I shoot pretty well, but a lot of people think I can’t shoot. I just have to show it so I stay working on that a lot.”

A-State Football I was able to speak with a few players tonight.

I was able to speak with several players tonight. I asked them to give me the truth. What is the deal? What needs to be fixed?

Every. Single. One. Of. Them. Said. The. Same. Thing.

They said it’s time for players to begin taking responsibility and to do the right things, and it’s time for some to begin stepping up to be a leader.

One starter told me “The coaches can only do so much. We’re the ones that have to make the plays and we’re not making them.”

A-State Football A conversation I had last night

Obviously last night did not go the way anyone in scarlet and black wanted it to go. The offense was dang near nonexistent. The defense looked good early, but got gassed. The team just didn’t look like they had much fire under them.

During the third quarter I bumped into a high ranking official from Arkansas State. I asked this person what their thoughts were. I was told “This is rough. Nothing is clicking. It just isn’t working right now.”

Needless to say, I’m going to keep my eyes and ears open as this season progresses. I’m of the belief that if we don’t see massive changes soon with this team there will be changes elsewhere.

The Sky Is Not Falling.

I get it, I want to win just as much as anyone. Just remember where we were just 3 years ago and step back and take a deep breath. Hold it. Hold it. Hold it. Exhale!!!!!!! 11 seniors on this team want to win. Truth is this is a very, very young team. But we hired Coach Jones to completely rebuild a team and a culture. I know I hear you, it's the 3rd year of a 5 year plan. Yeah well not according to the youth of this team. This is year 2. So what's really going on??

First realize this is not college football any more. This is semi pro football. It starts with the players you can buy! ULM has more NIL money for goodness sake. They do that's not just a conspiracy theory. We have roughly 200k and ULM has little over 500k. They will get better players to stay and come in. So you want to win? I challenge each of you to put $10 dollars a month. Or maybe let a coffee go and give 30 a month. C'mon $30 a month we can get at least 10k fans to do this. That's $300k a month 3.6 million. Look at that and promise we go 12-0. Bowl game probably a real good one.

Now the players we have are really good just young. But those guys will be gone as soon as an offer comes in. That's the truth. Now that we all know this please I am begging on behave of every player and coach that ever played for ASU. Please we need your support in every way. We need your bodies at the games. The players deserve that. They all agreed to come here and play for YOU!! Come out and get to know these guys. I promise each of you. Every player on this team wants to be here, they want to play and win for each of you. They are young and frustrated, they need your support and deserve it. Trust me I promise we are for the first time is a very long time we are built for the long haul. Now when this team learns to win, you will want to be there to say. I was there and watched our young men grow as a team. I grew as a fan.

Memphis is a must win for Butch Jones

I saw Luke's video on facebook and he said he didn't know if this is a must win game but it is the closest thing to one that he has seen so far for Butch. Luke, I disagree. This is a must win game for Butch. The fan base is already checking out on him. He hasn't done anything here to show improvement. Recruiting is good but we are not seeing improvement on the field. If he doesn't win this game it is over for him.
