Butch Jones

I know a lot of people have been frustrated at the way things have gone the past few season's at Arkansas State. I can't lie, it's frustrating to me. It's oftentimes hard to find the motivation to do much when I'm bombarded with constant negativity every time I turn around when people want to discuss the program. I get it though. Everyone wants to win.

With that being said, you have to tip your hat to the job Butch Jones and his staff are doing on the recruiting trail. They are once again poised to sign the top recruiting class in the Sun Belt Conference. That can do nothing but help the situation at hand with the rebuild of this team.

Things like this get me excited. They motivate me. They help me push through that negativity that is out there.

With that being said, let's see how spring football and ultimately fall camp goes before the season gets here. I know I can't wait to get back inside of Centennial Bank Stadium!

A-State Recruiting Florida three star QB Will Prichard officially visiting Arkansas State

Arkansas State will host three-star 2023 quarterback Will Prichard this weekend. Prichard let it rip throughout his senior season with Santaluces playing against 4M competition, Florida’s largest classification. The stat line was impressive throwing for 2,932 yards with a 34/2 TD/INT ratio.

Prichard previewed his official trip to Jonesboro.

“I am really excited and happy to see what is up there,” Prichard said. “I am excited to see the school and the academic buildings. I want to see the full campus; I didn’t get to see everything this summer.”

ASU offensive coordinator Keith Heckendorf and Prichard got early bonding time in over the summer at a Red Wolves camp.

A-State Recruiting Transfer portal

It’s that time of the year again where athletes start hitting the transfer portal hard, and you can bet Arkansas State will be active.

I’m told that there is an all out assault on the portal to find the best players possible to bring to Jonesboro. I have the belief that they will target players at nearly every position on the field.

I’m also told that we will begin seeing some from Arkansas State hitting the portal as well. I’m being told that several of them are guys who simply aren’t buying into the program, and not giving their all. I do not know who any of these players are at this time, but I expect to learn more as we progress through this.

A-State Recruiting RedWolfReport Recruiting Blitz - November 28, 2022

It is that time of the year again when Arkansas State football coaches will turn their attention to recruiting in order to help fill the remainder of the Class of 2023, in addition to hitting the Class of 2024 hard as well.

I've been impressed with the recruiting efforts of Butch Jones and his staff considering the current rebuild they are in and back-to back-to back losing seasons. Recruiting is what is going to help turn this thing around, and they have put a lot of effort into doing things the right way.

With that being said, this is the first installment of the RedWolfReport.com Recruiting Blitz to give subscribers an inside look at some things that are going on along the recruiting trail for the Red Wolves.

As always this information is for REDWOLFREPORT.COM SUBSCRIBERS ONLY. I ask that no screen shots of this list be taken and shared, and I also ask that the list not be taken and shared. Additionally, I ask that this information is not shared on the RedWolfReport Facebook Group. You are all premium subscribers, so if you have any comments or questions please utilize this message board to post them. After all, you are paying for this information, and giving it away for free reduces the value of your memberships and can lead to removal from the website with no refund being issued.

I'd like to begin with talking about the most recent commit Brian Alston. As you probably know he has a ton of P5 offers, and that is something this coaching staff is concerned about. They know he is a stud and could be a difference maker for this program, but they know they will have to fight off some other schools in order to get him to sign here. Now, Brian seems to be all in when you speak with him, but someone will always try to change his mind. I'm told this staff is prepared to fight tooth and nail in order to make sure he signs with the Red Wolves.

A couple of Arkansas Razorbacks have entered the transfer portal, and I'm told that Red Wolf coaches are doing their due diligence on them to see if they want to pursue them or not. Obviously they both signed to play in the SEC, so we know they have talent and ability. One of them is RB James Jointer - who is an in-state kid - and the other is DB Myles Slusher. Jointer redshirted this year, so he would have his full four years to play at whatever school he ends up at. Slusher has played three season's at Arkansas, but could provide some much needed help in the defensive backfield for the Red Wolves if Butch Jones decides to go after him and he decides to come to Arkansas State. I'll keep you all updated on this as soon as I know more about their pursuit of both of these guys.

There are some in-state prospects who have been extended preferred walk on spots. Pine Bluff ATH Blake Hegwood and Little Rock Christian LB Holt Chappel picked up offers at a recent visit. There are a few other guys who picked up PWO's also, and I'm working to confirm each of those.

Speaking of Pine Bluff athletes, keep an eye on C/O 2023 TE Jordon Harris. He has only played one year of football, but he is an absolute FREAK! He has numerous D1 offers, and the Red Wolves really like him. He would be a great addition to the Class of 2023. Harris has emerged this fall and is starting to draw power five interest with his 6-foot-7, 230-pound frame and versatile skillset at tight end. With a basketball background and a 7-foot-1 wingspan, Harris has the measurables college coaches desire and it wouldn't be a surprise to see more schools get involved in his recruitment. I'm adding his highlight video below:

There were some new offers that went out yesterday. JUCO WR's Quintavious Workman, Tim Grear, and JUCO OL Ian Fitzgerald landed those offers. Workman originally signed with UTEP. I'm working to get more information on the other two.

You can CLICK HERE to take a look at the current commits in the Class of 2023. Please note that there are three prospects that are yet to receive star ratings. Despite that, you can CLICK HERE to see that the Red Wolves currently have the top ranked class in the Sun Belt.

That is going to do it for today's Recruiting Blitz. Thanks again for being a subscriber here, and please spread the word about the website. Also, as much as I love the Facebook group I could use some help getting some discussion going on these message boards. I'd greatly appreciate it if some of you could start posting here to help draw more eyes to the website and message boards!
