It is that time of the year again when Arkansas State football coaches will turn their attention to recruiting in order to help fill the remainder of the Class of 2023, in addition to hitting the Class of 2024 hard as well.
I've been impressed with the recruiting efforts of Butch Jones and his staff considering the current rebuild they are in and back-to back-to back losing seasons. Recruiting is what is going to help turn this thing around, and they have put a lot of effort into doing things the right way.
With that being said, this is the first installment of the RedWolfReport.com Recruiting Blitz to give subscribers an inside look at some things that are going on along the recruiting trail for the Red Wolves.

I'd like to begin with talking about the most recent commit
Brian Alston. As you probably know he has a ton of P5 offers, and that is something this coaching staff is concerned about. They know he is a stud and could be a difference maker for this program, but they know they will have to fight off some other schools in order to get him to sign here. Now, Brian seems to be all in when you speak with him, but someone will always try to change his mind. I'm told this staff is prepared to fight tooth and nail in order to make sure he signs with the Red Wolves.
A couple of Arkansas Razorbacks have entered the transfer portal, and I'm told that Red Wolf coaches are doing their due diligence on them to see if they want to pursue them or not. Obviously they both signed to play in the SEC, so we know they have talent and ability. One of them is RB
James Jointer - who is an in-state kid - and the other is DB
Myles Slusher. Jointer redshirted this year, so he would have his full four years to play at whatever school he ends up at. Slusher has played three season's at Arkansas, but could provide some much needed help in the defensive backfield for the Red Wolves if Butch Jones decides to go after him and he decides to come to Arkansas State. I'll keep you all updated on this as soon as I know more about their pursuit of both of these guys.
There are some in-state prospects who have been extended preferred walk on spots. Pine Bluff ATH
Blake Hegwood and Little Rock Christian LB
Holt Chappel picked up offers at a recent visit. There are a few other guys who picked up PWO's also, and I'm working to confirm each of those.
Speaking of Pine Bluff athletes, keep an eye on C/O 2023 TE
Jordon Harris. He has only played one year of football, but he is an absolute FREAK! He has numerous D1 offers, and the Red Wolves really like him. He would be a great addition to the Class of 2023. Harris has emerged this fall and is starting to draw power five interest with his 6-foot-7, 230-pound frame and versatile skillset at tight end. With a basketball background and a 7-foot-1 wingspan, Harris has the measurables college coaches desire and it wouldn't be a surprise to see more schools get involved in his recruitment. I'm adding his highlight video below:

There were some new offers that went out yesterday. JUCO WR's
Quintavious Workman,
Tim Grear, and JUCO OL
Ian Fitzgerald landed those offers. Workman originally signed with UTEP. I'm working to get more information on the other two.

That is going to do it for today's Recruiting Blitz. Thanks again for being a subscriber here, and please spread the word about the website. Also, as much as I love the Facebook group I could use some help getting some discussion going on these message boards. I'd greatly appreciate it if some of you could start posting here to help draw more eyes to the website and message boards!
